Chivaree Southern Art & Design is always on the lookout for great new artists. Please follow these guidelines to ensure that we can give all artists, including you, due consideration.
First, take a detailed look at our website or visit our gallery to understand the type of work we exhibit. Please keep in mind, we are a regional gallery specializing in art and studio crafts/design of the American South. So if you are a German artist working in Berlin, or you’ve spent your entire life in California painting Pacific seascapes, we might personally love your work, but we are not the gallery for you. Once you have some understanding of our direction, and you believe your work would be appropriate for us, you may send a submission using these guidelines.
Phase I. Send us an email--call the number above for our email address. (Posting it online causes spam.) Include a brief artist statement (you may also include a CV or resume if you wish), and EITHER -
a URL where we can view images of your work online (preferred), OR
-
no more than ten (10) JPEGs of your work, sent as attachments. If you send attachments, file sizes must be limited. JPEGs must be no more than 250 KB each and 72 dpi.
Each image should be labeled with the artist’s name, title of work, date, gallery (retail) price, medium and dimensions.
Send the email with the subject heading “ARTIST SUBMISSION.”
If you cannot provide a URL or send digital photos, we can still consider your work. Send us your artist statement and no more than ten (10) small (no larger than 5” x 7”) color photos of your work in an envelope no larger than 6” x 9”. Each photo should be labeled with detailed information as described above. Include your phone number or email address; you may include a CV or resume if you wish. OR, you may drop off the envelope in person—please mark the outside of the envelope with “Artist Submissions,” and make sure you include your contact info. Materials can be dropped off at the gallery during regular hours (Monday to Saturday – 10am to 5pm), but they will not be reviewed immediately.
Your photos, statement, etc. cannot be returned unless you include an SASE with sufficient postage.
Phase II. If we are interested in learning more about you and seeing a more complete portfolio of your work, we will either respond to your email, or we will call/email you if you mail or bring us an envelope. At this point, we will provide guidelines for a more detailed submission.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL OR EMAIL regarding the status of your materials, as we will respond to those submissions we have an interest in as soon as we review them. |
